Dessert after Dinner? No thank you

Image result for desserts

Growing up, Dessert was not served in my house. Bread was not on the table either.  No one suffered due to a lack of these two omissions. All of us , except my brother who was a runner and burned up more calories than he could eat, were always watching our weight.

Dessert is rarely served at our house now.  We really don't need the calories.  Apparently my family is not alone.  Sweet treats being served at the end of the dinner meal is rapidly declining. Those 65 and older are the most passionate about their after dinner dessert while those younger are much more conscious about what they eat. Are you surprised? I'm not with the increase of heart disease and diabetes extra sugar and carbs need to be cut.  Out goes dessert.  It doesn't mean that sweets are not be eaten.  It just means people are more careful about when and if they eat them.  It is not inconceivable that dessert after dinner will become extinct.

I found this article in the Washington Post on the decline of Dessert The disappearing dessert.  There is a company that has been tracking eating habits for the last 29 years specifically monitoring 5,000 people.  Read the article it is interesting
