Summer is coming
and I am officially switching into my summer reading mode. For me this means is finding
books I can just sink into and relax. Picture this, it is a warm day on the beach not a cloud in the ski. Maybe there is a slight breeze. You have your
SPF 30, 40 or 50 slathered on, an ice-cold beverage in hand and you are comfortably
settled into your chair under a beach umbrella.
You whip out your book and you are nestled under a beach umbrella. You pull out your book slowly, the world starts to melt away. You are in the zone. You are now in the zone.
When I’m in that zone, I’m either reading a breezy beach read or diving into something meatier and more emotionally layered. Either way, there’s nothing I’d rather be doing in that moment than reading.
Right now, I’m leaning into lighter reads—the kind you can finish in a few hours or stretch over a couple of days, depending on your pace. I’ll be sharing my picks as I go, so stay tuned for some easy, satisfying summer reads. My first A Wedding in Provence
The setting of the book is Cassis, France part of Provence. It is a beautiful coastal town with pretty colored buildings of yellow, beige and salmon with white boats dotting the coastline. I can just picture myself there.
Olivia is here to get married to Brody something she never imagined would happen again after her divorce. She is wildly happy. But as all of us know, crazy things happen at weddings, and this one is no exception.
The wedding is to take place at a charming B an B owned by her best friend Emily. The wedding is a small gathering, just family but each family member arrives carrying their own baggage and I do not mean suitcases.
Her daughter for Nell shows up with a man she met on the plane. Her other daughter, Carly arrives alone after her significant other bales on her just as they are to leave for the airport. Clearly, they are not on the same page. As other guests trickle in, Olivia finds herself surrounded by a cast of characters each bringing their own drama to the mix. Juggling her family dynamics and wedding logistics is making her life very interesting.
Weddings have a way of bringing out the best and the worst in people. If you have planned a wedding, I think you know what I mean.
